Exclamation virus attack from one of the pop-ups here

i got a nasty virus today from one of your pop-up ads.

and before anyone tries to say i got it somewhere else, that's BS, i got it here!

it goes by the name of Antispyware Soft or Antivirus soft.

basically my laptop is fried, i cant use any exe's on my laptop, and the only virus scan i can use (SUPERantispyware) finds it every time, quarantines it, and has me reboot to remove it. but when i restart its still there. i even did it in 'Safe Mode'.

i get constant bubble pop-ups for virus warnings all over my screen, and IE windows for porn and other stuff keeps popping up occasionally.

i can't use any exe's on my laptop, because every time i try a pop-up says it's infected.

i'm too the point now that i think my only option is to wipe my laptop and start over.

if anyone else has run into this virus any help getting rid of it would be appreciated!

btw, the amount of pop-ups you have here is insane, i didn't even get a chance to log in to avoid it. now my whole system is crashing around me.

i mean really, are you willing to risk all our computers just so you can keep this site running? and let's face it, it's not like you don't have questionable pop-ups here!

I've never had that one but I would go here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/ I would join the forums there and post in the "Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs" with the logs they request and someone there will fix you up.

You have a 'root kit' and the only way, no matter what you may read elsewhere, to remove it is to do a low level format and wipe mbr and do a fresh install of your OS.

    thanks for the replies fellas!

i've been trying for many hours now today, nothing works, and i've had help from a couple guys i know that are good with computers. i'm getting ready now to do a complete reinstall of vista to get rid of it, then im gonna upgrade to windows 7.

i would print screen and post the pics of any info i could, but i can't use any image viewers, or anything else for that matter. all i can use is firefox.

luckily i have all my important stuff backed up on externalHD.

If you haven't already formatted your machine, DON'T!!! Send me a reply and I will help you get rid of this. I am a computer tech (degree in Elctronics Engineering - #1 in my class - 4.0 GPA) with 0ver 25 years of experience and have run my own store for over 8 years. YOU DO NOT NEED TO REFORMAT! I repair computers and remove viruses for a living. You simply need to remove the registry entries that keep initiating the program. Redeemer may mean well, but he is incorrect. This is not a true rootkit and even if it were it is still removable. I will be up for another hour or so and if you reply soon I will answer you right away. If not I will check back tomorrow evening. Hope I can help. Charlie

I run Ubuntu Linux so I don't have to worry about this kind of thing. My Windoze using friends call me up and ask me to undo that ridiculous virus scam, and it is hard to get rid of.

If you are stuck in windows, there are some things you can do to help. Run Firefox. Get these addons to protect yourself:

NoScript. It will prevent any javascript from running without permission. So all of those viruses that come in through image posting sites will never happen to you.

AdBlockPlus. Like a Popup blocker, but prevents many ads from filling up the screen.

Its one of the sidebar ads when your not logged in.
If i lose the session here, and the sidebar shows, NOD32 goes nuts and blocks all the ads telling me bad karma is coming down the intertubes.
Login, remove sidebar ads, all is good.

Still, not good really. needs looking into. others may have caught something and not realized yet.

SSRCharlieB is correct, its only a 30 min job pulling the naughty .exe off the filesystem, and removing the offending REG entries.

@ SSRCharlieB - too late.. i reinstalled vista to get rid of it, then i installed Windows7. everything is working fine now.. @ nhojluap - i added both those add ons to firefox now.. @ Carbon - i usually stay logged in with 'remember me' even when i have my laptop off, to avoid those things, but i cleared browsing history the last time i closed firefox, so i was logged out at the time.. thanks for the help and feedback fellas! guess it all worked out for the best, got Windows7 now! *cough*free*cough*

The only thing i have in my mind is that your antivirus is not able to do anything so try changing it with a better program. We really can't know wich is better becouse everybody says his is the best. Personally i use Kaspersky Internet Security

    Can confirm.
One of the ads on the page tries to launch arbitrary java code for a fake file scan, then called the java runtime enviroment to transfer itself to the client pc.

I just had the same BS go on when I tried to download the latest G Union pictures. Luckly I am running Firefox 3.6.6 with AdBlockPlus and I was quick enough not to allow the fake "Scan for a virus now to fix the problem" to run. It is a real problem that needs to be looked at by the Mods.

I'm pretty sure it's ad-specific rather than pic-specific, cause the same happened to me on THB's post in the funny pics thread.

we totally apologize for any troubles concerning these fake virus alerts.

keep your computer clean with "Microsoft Security Essentials" and use Firefox/Opera/Chrome as Browser instead of IE.

And just don't trust those alerts.

This is NOTHING we intend to do, we are running a advertisement pool which is auto-managed. there are some jerks misusing it for this scam. Normally its spotted fast and gets deleted, but it can happen that it stays on for an hour or so.

I'll see what I can do. Sorry guys.

use a better browser than IE. Use FF with Adblock Plus or Opera with an Adblock list.

Default thanks Skins.. one of your ads, almost gave me a virus...

good thing windows defender and Norton managed to both catch it and remove it before it screwed up my comp ...

good job... not only are ads on this site getting out of hand, annoying, and well.. pissing me off, now they are laced with viruses....

this site has really gone down hill over the last few months....

the latest ad piss off.. the redirect one where even if you go back to the pick, you STILL get redirected, if you use the recent pages drop down menu, to go back to the pic.. guess what.. still get redirected ....

almost not worth it to come here any more, and i think i will be suggesting to my friends to stay away as well ...

RIP Skins.be.. you were once a GREAT site for pics, now, it may be wise to go else where.... RIP Skins.be

    i love my mac
She needs to go topless quickly, she's got the goods and it looks like she's got some serious ones, but she ain't showing them off like all the other actresses/glamour models do and leaves us with a slight doubt imo. Her husband doesn't seem like the cocky type for once and I largely appreciate that.

Never die this site, where I can have photos of my favorite actresses, and talk to cool people. Skin.be Thanks for giving me the opportunity to see these actresses so fabulous, especially Sophia Bush.
