finally!, sounds great![]()
We were very pissed by imageshack banning our forum from displaying their pics so we decided to do it ourself.
We would like you to take a look at one of the new Skins 2.0 core features: the new skins.be image hosting service at http://upload.skins.be/
Our goal is to create a highly reliable, well featured and easy-to-use image hosting system for the new Skins 2.0 forum and website. The image hosting service is still in a beta state but the core features like uploading single images, multiple images, archives and image galleries are already functional but we would like to see how the service performs and we need your help to find and fix all the well-hidden bugs.
We appreciate any bug-report, feedback and suggestions to improve the image hosting service. Don't look at the layout and design too close, it's only for beta testing purpose and will be replaced with a shiny new design when launching Skins 2.0.
At the moment you can upload single JPG, PNG and GIF images up to 1 megabyte in size and ZIP archives up to 100 megabytes in size.
The size limitations will probably be changed (raised) depending on the beta test results.
Beta-Features:
- upload images (JPG, PNG, GIF) up to 1 megabyte in size
- upload ZIP archives up to 100 megabytes in size
- upload multiple images and archives into galleries
- browse galleries / images
- link to gallery with thumbnail showing the first gallery image and image count
- auto-detecting images with no ending
- hotlinking protection (har har, it IS a feature for some of us)
Features to come (within the next weeks)
- Upload Progress Bar
- Upload Management: create, edit, delete your own uploaded images and galleries
- Enhanced Gallery Linking: post a thumbnail link to every image in a gallery with one copy&paste
- Enhanced Image Viewing and Gallery Browsing
- MUCH more to come
Plesae USE the new image-host as much as possible and give us feedback about any problems you happen to see.
Feel free to use the new service everywhere you want - the URLs are final and won't change and we'll never display any popups or disturbing ads on the site.

Are you able to change the way the upload script names the files, as if 2 different users (or the same user uploads 2 sets) upload pictures with the same name then they have the same name when you come to save them.
For example, i downloaded 2 different sets of Hayden Panettiere pics, which were from the same user. All the pics were named hp01.jpg, hp02.jpg etc. So when I came to download the second set, they had the same name as the first set.
Is it possible to make the upload script change the file names and add some random numbers or something, so there is never 2 files with the same name.
Some problems with the imagehost?? Can't upload or see thumbnails uploaded..![]()
Yes, you are right. We have some problems with the image servers for the image hoster. We are working on it, but it will need some time to fix the problems.
Sorry for that!

I've never been able to get the imagehost for skins.be to work for me, thats why I never use it. (not that I'm posting that many images to begin with) I use photobucket or imagevenue for uploading.

After all we have problems to reach the guys from the computer center(cc) and we cannot restart the servers over rpc, because they are totaly offline.
I hope, that we get all running very soon. Please give us some time.
We will change the cc in near future to avoid such problems.
Could you please send me a pm with a description of the problems you have with the hoster? Thanks.I've never been able to get the imagehost for skins.be to work for me

i get the same problem :/
Looks like the image-server is screwed again:
yesterday everything worked fine, but today I tried to upload an archive, and instead of the links I got a page full of adverts that tried to save a file on my computer (which my virus scanner didn't like very much) and then it jumped back to the image.skins.be page. Then I tried to upload a single image, this time no advert-page was displayed, after the upload finished it just jumped back to image.skins.be, again no links-page displayed
The archive was smaller than 25mb and the jpeg was ~600KB.

That comes not from Skins.be. We don't try to save files on the computers of our visitors.yesterday everything worked fine, but today I tried to upload an archive, and instead of the links I got a page full of adverts that tried to save a file on my computer
I'll take a look on the uploader.

I was wondering, too. But now it seems to be fine again, at least with smaller files.
