    Default Names on wallpapers

Please don't make too many (or any) wallpapers with the name of the female in big letters. I find it very cheap looking and distracting from the picture itself. The wallpapers with just one full screen picture with no writing are far better than ones with names or multiple pictures.

Please don't change what you were doing. It was the reason I kept coming back. Keep this site classy!

Your point is taken however, you need to look at the bigger picture rather than just what you like. While you may not like the change, others do... everyone have different tastes in babes/designs etc. What about the many people who do like wallpapers that are not just plain ones (i.e. crop and resize)? These people may not like those plain ones as they can do it themselves etc. so by doing non plain wallpapers as well, it may attract these people or re-attract them as the case may be.

The mix of design in wallpapers is a good thing. Your style of wallpapers will always be there, but respect other people who think different to you. Besides, the majority of wallpapers are your style anyway and will always be that way.

And if all the wallpaper designers just stuck to the design style and babes they liked then this site wouldn't be where it is today.

    007 is right.

And do not fear, the HQ "plain" walls will always continue. And far outweigh the level of the "art" walls...

We always take this seriously, and are aware that users visit the site due to the quality of the images used. And that will continue into the future.

I agree 100% with the original poster. In fact, I think these childish fanboy wallpapers with names on them suck. Before I continue, please take no offense. This is a forum and it's simply my opinion. I would also like to point out that the 2 people who replied above me just happen to have signatures of chicks WITH names written on them!

    - I strongly believe that any man with a wallpaper like this should be embarrassed. Look, a little heart between Kristen and Bell! And it's done with nice little Photoshop effects. Oh how sweet. And annoying.

    - Like the original poster said, they're distracting. Skins.be wallpapers have always been the best because they showed a good picture of the girl and nothing else.

    - The fanboy factor. This type of wallpaper kinda makes it seem like you're in love with this chick: . Pathetic. If the picture doesn't properly fill the screen, maybe no one should make a wallpaper for it.

I could find more reasons why I hate them by looking at more examples. I would be willing to bet that the casual Skins.be user agrees with me. I think these wallpapers are childish, dumb, and even girly. I don't like them at all. Stick to the 1 picture. Don't apply effects. Lay off the Photoshop.

And do not fear, the HQ "plain" walls will always continue. And far outweigh the level of the "art" walls...
Thank god for that... And sorry for the harsh criticism but I really wanted to express my opinion on these. Again, it's just my opinion and obviously some people do like these. I just wanted to let people know that I strongly oppose the artsy wallpapers.

my theory is if you don't like them. Don't download them. A diverse selection is always better because like 007 said. You may not like them, but some do

Well well well.... I prefer the plain ones. But I don't hate the other ones. Hate (and that's what it is in the post above (now right above ) is a bit much for a wallpaper.

Yes, I'm sorry about my previous post I got a little out of control there, it is just a wallpaper after all and there's tons of good plain ones that I like.

First thing RedRum71... take a chill pill. It's FREE wallpapers for your computer, not a life or death situation.

And who said that all Skins.be users are mature adults like yourself? I'm willing to bet there are just as many 'childish fanboy' who are Skins users. So what about them? They don't matter? Push them aside because that's not the group that you fit into?
    with names on them suck.
That's your opinion and you are entitled to that, but again, respect other people's opinions who differ to yours. The way you rant on in your post sounds like your opinion is the only one that matters and everyone should think like you... sorry, it doesn't work that way.

Like sfournier so rightly put 'if you don't like them. Don't download them'

This is a forum and it's simply my opinion.
Doesn't sound like it from your post.
I would also like to point out that the 2 people who replied above me just happen to have signatures of chicks WITH names written on them!
What's your point? Yeah, Batou & myself have signatures of chicks with names written on them, so what? We happen to be two people who think different to you, is that so hard to believe? What, we're not entitled to our opinions because it's not the same as yours?
    - I strongly believe that any man with a wallpaper like this should be embarrassed. Look, a little heart between Kristen and Bell! And it's done with nice little Photoshop effects. Oh how sweet. And annoying.
Who said all Skins users are 'man'? Sure, the majority are men, but there are females too... and so what if a man uses this wallpaper? You really sound like someone who discriminates against minorities and/or people who don't agree with your views.

Yeah, I'd use it and no I'm not embarrassed, surprise, surprise... so does that make me queer? And if I am, so? You don't see my labeling you names and flaming you because you have different taste.
    - Like the original poster said, they're distracting. Skins.be wallpapers have always been the best because they showed a good picture of the girl and nothing else.
That's yours and his opinions, not everyone elses.
    - The fanboy factor. This type of wallpaper kinda makes it seem like you're in love with this chick: . Pathetic. If the picture doesn't properly fill the screen, maybe no one should make a wallpaper for it.
The type of people who use that type of wallpaper is 'pathetic'? More ammunition that suggest you hate/discriminate people who think or are different to you... sad and what I call 'pathetic'.

Who voted you in as the wallpaper critic that gets to decide what is 'pathetic' and what is not?

Yes the picture doesn't fill the screen, but I like that picture so I'll wallpaper it, what are you going to do about it? If you have a look around the forums, plenty of wallpapers are where one half of it is the picture and the other half is a plain colored background with text etc.
I could find more reasons why I hate them by looking at more examples. I would be willing to bet that the casual Skins.be user agrees with me. I think these wallpapers are childish, dumb, and even girly. I don't like them at all.
And I bet you are right... and I bet the other half disagrees with you.

'childish': who said all Skins users are mature? what about all the childish ones?
'dumb': who said all Skins users are Einsteins like yourself? what about all the average people?
'girly': who said all Skins users are men or men who only think masculine?
Stick to the 1 picture. Don't apply effects. Lay off the Photoshop.
Don't force your personal opinion down people's throats.
and there's tons of good plain ones that I like.
Yes there is, most are your style. You can't expect everything to be how you like it.

Gee, 90% or so of wallpapers are plain ones that you like and yet you still want to have a 'the world is ending' rant.
And sorry for the harsh criticism but I really wanted to express my opinion on these. Again, it's just my opinion and obviously some people do like these. I just wanted to let people know that I strongly oppose the artsy wallpapers.
No need to say sorry, you are entitled to your opinion as is everyone else. The problem you have is respect. Like I said before, respect other people who think or are different to you... something which you don't seem to have.

Keep in mind that this is a FREE service with people giving up their free time to contribute to doing the wallpapers for you! And you know what they say, 'if you want something done properly, do it yourself'

There are many ways to complain, you decided to go down the path of all out attack, have a full on b*tch about something so petty.

While you are at it, is there a list of babes that you don't want to see wallpapers of and therefore should be banned from the site because it is pathetic and lame to use them as a wallpaper? What about babes of certain nationality/religious belief? What about certain colors for wallpapers? etc. etc...

    Cool Re: Names on wallpapers

Names on wallpapers are actually a good thing for photographers. It helps them pin down the source of any copyright infringement and take action they deem appropriate against individuals, entities and online organisations.

ummm, the OP was referring to the names of babes that are put onto a wallpaper as part of the design, I think you are referring to something totally different - the 'Skins.be' watermark on wallpapers.

If the wallpapers are done well, like 007's for example, I like the name on them. Though sometimes they do look cheap if not done well by someone who knows how to properly do them, like someone just slapped a name on there. In that case, if I like the picture, I'll just use my Gimp software to remove the name.

Exactly. If you don't like it, remove it, or do the wallpaper yourself without the text.

No one should be complaining in the kind of manner in which RedRum71 did, especially on a free service and where the majority are done to his liking anyway.

    List of "babes" to ban:
    • Amy Winehouse
    • Britney Spears
    • Kelly Osbourne

No, just kidding. On the other hand.... What's wrong these days?! Lot a flaming, ranting going on here the last few days. Must have something to do with the weather.

I don't like any of them either, but unlike someone who shall remain nameless, I wouldn't want to see them banned from the site just because I don't like them.

Yep, thanks for pointing that out. I just realised, not once in his post did he say thanks or show any sort of appreciation for the great work done by the guys who make all the wonderful wallpapers over the years that he has enjoyed. He made an account yesterday just to go on here to b*tch and flame, very cool.

Be careful mersa, what you have said and the smiley used there would be considered 'pathetic', 'childish' and 'girly'... just a warning

I fail to see the correlation between an image 400x100 and a 1920x1200 wallpaper

Well with ~900 walls by me with not 1 word on them, at least I also felt your criticism could have been less aggressive. And a single kind word could have been uttered... Surely it wouldn't have hurt.

I used to be very much opposed to the 'name on wallpapers' thingy until recently when i made this wallie:

I found myself thinking that its too 'plain' so I made this version, which in my opinion is much better than the original:

All it took was the simple addition of her logo and her name and it has made the wallie better I think. Of course thats just my opinion but I am biased as I made them both! So am I making 'annoying', 'distracting', 'pathetic', 'dumb', 'girly' and 'childish fanboy wallpapers' or have I made a 'plain' one better?
    Sorry if repost

    Check out my wallpapers.

Which one is better? Neither. Half the people if asked will say the first one, the other half will say the second one - a simple concept yet some people have a hard time understanding for some reason.

It can take a while for some people to come around to it, there seems to be a steady flow of 'plain' wallies and 'artsy' wallies but the plain ones still outweigh the artsy ones by a hefty majority overall...

I like both designs...I have about (at the last count) 10600 on my wallpaper site and the split is about 50/50. To me, it all depends on the original image taken. If I can use the whole image, I will, if not then I'll do something creative with Photoshop.

When I get personal requests, it's because the customer is a fan of the celeb in question and normally requests the type of wallpaper they want. Again the choice is usually 50/50 between just the image or photoshop produced.

It's all down to choice, to have or to have not....
